Obituary for Evelyn Ruth Garey Beckett

MAYSVILLE — Evelyn Ruth (Garey) Beckett, 94, passed away on Monday, 13 May 2019, at Maysville Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility.

She was the widow of Cecil A Beckett, with whom she was married for 46 years, prior to his death in 1995.

Evelyn was born on October 1, 1924, in Fleming County to the late William Herman and Lillian (Griffith) Garey.

She was a 1942 graduate of May’s Lick High School, member of Maysville First Christian Church and, was employed by Security Bank & Trust Company for 53 years, prior to her retirement, in 2014, at age 90.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Constance Brell Beckett; grandchildren Andrew (Raina) Beckett of Mechanicsburg, PA, Shannon (Kimberly) Beckett, of Detroit, MI, and Christopher (Reva) Beckett of Delray Beach, FL. Evelyn is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren; Marcus (17), Liam (16), Elaina (14), Zelia (13), Mia (11), and Ewan (9) Beckett, along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Cecil and her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Garey; two sisters, Mary Frances Wilson and Dortha Garey; five brothers, Cornelius Owens (Buster) Garey, William Garey, Evan Griffith (E.G.) Garey, James Garey and Clifford (Tip) Garey.

At Evelyn’s request there will be no visitation, or formal service, however, graveside services will be held at Elizaville Cemetery, on a date and time to be determined.
